Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology

Position Overview

Essential Job Functions

• Teach courses including Abnormal Psychology, Clinical Assessment, Psychopathology, Counseling Techniques, and Psychotherapy.
• Conduct research and scholarly activities in clinical psychology, mental health, psychotherapy, psychological assessment, or related fields.
• Publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals relevant to clinical psychology and mental health.
• Advise, mentor, and supervise students in seminars, tutorials, internships, and research projects.
• Design experiential learning activities such as simulations, role-plays, supervised practice, and case studies.
• Develop and review curricula and practicum components in line with academic and accreditation standards.
• Support assessment and improvement of student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Raise community awareness of mental health through outreach, seminars, or collaborative UAE initiatives.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service, committees, and professional networks.

Teaching and Academic Duties

• Prepare and deliver current, relevant course material in an understandable and motivating manner.
• Assess course objectives, instructional methods, and student learning using formative and summative assessments.
• Use digital platforms, group activities, portfolios, and other evidence-based instructional methods.
• Prepare comprehensive course syllabi and approved learning-outcome evaluation materials.
• Provide academic advisement, office hours, and guidance on program choices and career possibilities.
• Attend faculty, department, committee, commencement, professional-development, and other applicable university events.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Clinical Psychology from an internationally accredited university.
• Expertise in clinical psychology and mental health, including clinical applications, assessment, diagnosis, and interventions.
• Successful teaching experience at postgraduate or undergraduate level in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health.
• Clinical Psychologist license with DOH, DHA, HCPC UK, or a United States practice license, or eligibility to apply for licensure.
• Proven teaching, program-planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Academic and Technical Skills

• Familiarity with Blackboard and other learning management systems.
• Ability to contribute to curriculum development, program planning, research, assessment, and community outreach.
