Job Summary

Assist with daily Human Resource Office activities, including recruitment, total compensation, training and development.

Support HR services that meet employee needs and enable business success.

Help ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and operating procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Option one is a high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
  • Option two is a 2-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major with no work experience required.

Recruitment and Hiring

  • Assist with interviewing and hiring Human Resources team members.
  • Maintain contact with external recruitment sources.
  • Attend job fairs and document outreach efforts.
  • Network with local organizations to source candidates.
  • Monitor candidate identification and selection and perform quality control.

Benefits and Claims

  • Respond to unemployment claims and review provider reports for accuracy.
  • Assist with unemployment claim activity reports.
  • Attend unemployment hearings and ensure the property is properly represented when needed.

Employee Development

  • Assist with departmental orientation and new-hire training.
  • Ensure employees are cross-trained to support daily operations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new-hire orientation.
  • Track attendance by new hires and participation by the leadership team in training programs.

Employee Relations

  • Maintain effective employee communication channels and support property-wide meetings.
  • Review progressive discipline documentation for accuracy, consistency, and supporting records.
  • Use an open-door approach to acknowledge employee concerns promptly.
  • Refer employee issues to the Department Manager or escalate them to senior HR leadership.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention on employee accident investigations.
  • Communicate performance expectations according to job descriptions.

Legal and Compliance Practices

  • Maintain secure employment paperwork, performance management records, and compensation documentation.
  • Support procedures for accessing, reviewing, and auditing employee files and complying with the Privacy Act.
  • Maintain medical records in separate, secure, and confidential files.
  • Facilitate applicable drug testing processes.
  • Communicate property rules, safety, security, accident reporting, and hygiene requirements.
  • Support claims reviews and Workers’ Compensation claims management.
