Requirements

- 8+ years of experience in Asset Management preferably with buy side institutions like Central Banks, SWFs, pension funds and/or asset managers, fund of funds, asset allocators
- Familiarity with international financial markets, fund manager investment diligence, operational diligence and strong understanding of quantitative metrics
- Ability to understand python code is desirable
- Any relevant professional certifications such as CFA

Role Overview
- The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates.
- We are seeking an Assistant Director – External Portfolio Management who is responsible for the selection, appointment, and ongoing monitoring of external fund managers in accordance with the External Fund Manager Policy.
- The role will contribute to all aspects of external portfolio management, including portfolio monitoring, development of investment analytics, manager due diligence, preparation of investment recommendations, and input into strategic and tactical asset allocation.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute the selection, monitoring and ongoing management of relationships with the CBUAE’s external fund managers, in line with the External Fund Manager Policy, in collaboration with the Director.
- Recommend enhancements to the external fund manager portfolio based on strong due diligence, analytical insights and continuous monitoring of the external fund manager universe.
- Conduct comprehensive investment analytics, including multi asset and market analysis, to inform external manager selection, portfolio construction, and the overall positioning of externally managed mandates.
- Lead legal and operational negotiations and workflows related to IMAs with fund managers and see through the implementation of segregated mandates, while contributing to the enhancement of CBUAEs portfolio management, risk and performance systems.
- Develop and maintain investment analytics and tools at both manager and portfolio level, including applications that collect and consolidate data and automate the monitoring and evaluation of external fund managers.
- Manage multiple investment and operational projects simultaneously, ensuring effective planning and execution, monitoring progress against key objectives, and driving them through to successful completion, including participation in cross‑departmental working groups where required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Banking or Administration, or a related field or relevant subject.
- Any relevant professional certifications such as CFA
- 8+ years of experience in Asset Management preferably with buy side institutions like Central Banks, SWFs, pension funds and/or asset managers, fund of funds, asset allocators
- Familiarity with international financial markets, fund manager investment diligence, operational diligence and strong understanding of quantitative metrics
- Ability to understand python code is desirable
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and quality
- Team orientation and professionalism
- Able to mentor, set standards and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
