- Install, configure, and maintain z/OS operating system software and service levels (PTFs, RSUs)
- Perform SMP/E software installation and maintenance activities
- Monitor and tune system performance using RMF, SMF, and related tools
- Provide problem determination and resolution for z/OS and subsystem issues
- Support IPL procedures, JES2/JES3 management, and RACF/ACF2/TopSecret security administration
- Collaborate with application teams, DBAs, and network staff to resolve issues
- Maintain and update system documentation and change records
- Participate in DR testing and business continuity activities
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer in a production mainframe environment
- Proficiency with SMP/E, JES2/JES3, RACF, and ISPF/SDSF
- Experience with z/OS performance monitoring tools (RMF, SMF)
- Solid understanding of LPAR management, WLM, and storage management (DFSMS/HSM)
- Familiarity with TCP/IP on z/OS and FTP/SFTP configuration
- Knowledge of TSO/ISPF, JCL, and REXX scripting
- Must be available to work core Texas (CT) business hours throughout the contract
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Role Overview
- IQ Plus Tech is recruiting on behalf of a major US based client for two experienced z/OS Systems Programmers to join a legacy mainframe environment on a 4–6 month contract.
- The successful candidates will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance tuning of the z/OS operating system and associated IBM software products.
Key Responsibilities

- Exposure to z/OSMF and IBM Health Checker.
- Knowledge of IBM Parallel Sysplex and Coupling Facility.
- IBM certifications in z/OS or related disciplines.
