- Install, configure, and maintain DB2 for z/OS subsystems and apply PTFs/maintenance
- Monitor and tune DB2 performance using EXPLAIN, RUNSTATS, REORG, and related utilities
- Administer DB2 buffer pools, storage groups, and distributed data facilities (DDF)
- Provide DB2 problem determination and resolution, including support for application teams
- Manage DB2 security, authorisations, and audit trails
- Perform DB2 catalog and directory maintenance
- Support backup, recovery, and high availability strategies (HADR, data sharing)
- Assist in migration/upgrade activities across DB2 versions
Requirements
- 5+ years of DB2 for z/OS systems programming and/or DBA experience
- Strong skills in DB2 utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER)
- Experience with DB2 performance tuning and query optimisation
- Knowledge of DB2 data sharing in a Sysplex environment
- Familiarity with JCL, ISPF, and z/OS fundamentals
- Understanding of DB2 distributed data facility (DDF) and DRDA
- Must be available to work core Texas (CT) business hours throughout the contract
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Experience with IBM Data Studio or similar tooling (desirable)
- Knowledge of DB2 Analytics Accelerator (IDAA) (desirable)
- Exposure to DB2 REST services and JSON support (desirable)
- IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for z/OS (desirable)

Role Overview
- IQ Plus Tech is seeking an experienced DB2 Systems Programmer/DBA for a 4–6 month contract with a leading US enterprise. You will manage the DB2 for z/OS environment, supporting both the systems programming and DBA functions to maintain high availability, performance, and data integrity.
