Role Overview
The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience in an upscale restaurant environment.
This role demands refined service skills, strong product knowledge, and adherence to fine dining etiquette to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable and seamless experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Service Excellence: The staff provides attentive, personalized service while maintaining a professional and polished demeanor. They anticipate guest needs, offer thoughtful recommendations, and ensure each interaction reflects the standards of fine dining hospitality.
- Menu Knowledge & Presentation: A comprehensive understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation techniques, and wine pairings, is essential. The Waiter/Waitress confidently guides guests through menu selections and performs tableside preparations such as carving, flambé, or dessert presentations with precision and flair.
- Table Setup & Service Coordination: Responsible for the meticulous setup of tables, the employee ensures proper placement of silverware, glassware, and china, paying close attention to every detail. Orders are taken accurately and communicated efficiently to the kitchen to maintain the proper flow and timing of courses.
- Teamwork & Professionalism: The role requires close coordination with colleagues and kitchen staff to deliver smooth and well-paced service. The Waiter/Waitress upholds the highest standards of grooming, conduct, and teamwork, addressing guest feedback with grace and ensuring complete satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hospitality Management or Customer Service Certificate
- Previous experience as a waiter in a fine dining or upscale restaurant
- Extensive knowledge of fine dining service standards, menu items, and wine pairings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
