- Assist during surgeries by monitoring anesthesia, passing instruments to the surgeon, and providing general support
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes and medical histories
- Educate pet owners on general pet care, post operative care, and medication administration
- Clean and sanitize examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
- Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, such as blood draws and urinalysis
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures, medical terminology, and animal handling techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Compassionate and patient approach to handling animals and interacting with pet owners
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
