This is a reclassification opportunity open only to current Utility Equipment Operator IV's at Metro Water Recovery. Performs senior-level activities in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and treatments facilities, which ranges from 8-in. to 90-in. sewer mains over a 750 square mile service area and provides technical support to the Transmission Operations Manager. Works under the direction of a Transmission Operations Manager. Provides direction and training for Utility Equipment Operators. Provide functional leadership in the absence of a Transmission Operations Manager.
Examples of Duties
Takes a lead role in training Transmission staff trainees in the day-to-day training program. Mentors and trains lower-level transmission staff on more complex work and equipment. Assist with the design, delivery, and revisions to transmission trainee curriculum as needed. Works on assigned jobs and monitors, evaluates, and documents performance and skill levels of crewmembers and oversees complex traffic control. Provides input on performance to the Transmission Operations Manager. Ensures crewmembers know and adhere to safe practices and policies while performing their assigned tasks. Ensures safety and training programs are being followed. Responsible for the investigation of interceptor emergencies to investigate complaints, remove obstructions, control odors, and prevent damage to Metro or private property. Fulfills the role of supervisor if a supervisor is not present. Assist as needed with instructing confined space training, traffic control training, heavy equipment operation training, and general safety and collection classes. Uses the Computer Maintenance Management System to plan work for the Transmissions crews. Identifies maintenance needs and prepares work order requests. Working Conditions
