This is a reclassification opportunity open only to current Utility Equipment Operator III's at Metro Water Recovery. Performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and wastewater treatment facilities. Exercises independent judgement on work sites when a supervisor is not present. Provides direction and training to Utility Equipment Operators and may direct the work of lower classifications. Works under the direction of a Transmissions Supervisor.
Examples of Duties
May lead project teams responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of interceptor sewers, Metro distribution lines, metering facilities (to include flume installation) and other hydraulic structures through the use of heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Conduct minor rehabilitation projects on all offsite Metro Facilities (sanitary sewers, manholes, metering facilities, diversion structures, lift/pump stations etc.). Responsible for the investigation of interceptor emergencies to investigate complaints, remove obstructions, control odors and prevent damage to Metro or private property. Design and set up traffic control in accordance with the MUTCD. Responsible for Operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment necessary to perform surface and subsurface inspection of interceptor sewers and pipelines such as multi-conductor CCTV equipment. Uses computers to collect and input data (needed to support Metro’s rehabilitation programs) into various inspection databases. Responsible for the Operation, maintenance, and repair of lift and pump stations. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of high-pressure jet/vac trucks to perform preventative and emergency maintenance and hydro excavate. Responsible for accurately preparing documentation such as inspection reports, flow diversion report, line cleaning reports, CCTV inspection, etc. to support various Metro programs. Inspects, maintains, and repairs small engine equipment such as demo saws, plate tamper, chain saws, weed eaters etc. Responsible for inspecting the construction of new Transmission facilities or modifications to existing facilities. Responsible for using drawings to identify and locate Metro’s underground utilities including the use of electronic locating equipment and maintains accuracy throughout all reporting actions accurately, safely, and efficiently. Work on-call shifts Conducts snow removal using truck mounted plows and sanding equipment. Responsible for assisting with the training lower-level classifications.
