Description
This is a reclassification opportunity open only to current Utility Equipment Operator II's at Metro Water Recovery. Independently performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the interceptor sewer system and treatments facilities. Works under the direction of a Transmission Supervisor.
Examples of Duties
- Operates and maintains equipment necessary to perform surface and subsurface inspection of interceptor sewers and pipelines such as multi-conductor CCTV equipment. Uses computers to collect and input data (needed to support Metro’s rehabilitation programs) into various inspection databases. Operate and Maintains lift and pump stations. Operate high pressure jet/vac trucks to perform preventative and emergency maintenance and hydro excavate. Operates, maintains, and repairs interceptor sewers, Metro distribution lines, metering facilities (to include flume installation) and other hydraulic structures using heavy equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Conduct minor rehabilitation projects on all offsite Metro facilities (sanitary sewers, manholes, metering facilities, diversion structures, lift/pump stations etc.). Uses drawings to accurately, safely and efficiently identify and locate Metro’s underground utilities. Which includes using electronic locating equipment; maintains accuracy by reporting actions. Inspects the construction of new Transmission facilities or modifications to existing facilities. Conducts snow removal using truck mounted plows and sanding equipment. Investigation of interceptor emergencies to investigate complaints, remove obstructions to prevent or correct surcharge or SSO condition, control odors and prevent damage to Metro or private property. Work on-call shifts Performs other related duties as required.

Ability to: Read and interpret underground utility drawings Interpret data trends Comprehend written technical procedures and manuals Do mathematics using decimals and fractions Prioritize and multi-task in a high-activity work environment. Conduct field measurements, observations and analyses Complete the transmission training programs Education, Certifications, and Licenses Graduation from high school or GED required. Collections System Operator Certification Class II or equivalent (out-of-state certifications will require reciprocity). Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.

Working Conditions
Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; high and low traffic zones, and outdoor weather conditions 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration less than 1/3 of the time. The employee will be working in confined spaces 1/3-2/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical Demands While performing the duties of the job the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and climb or balance less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 more than 2/3 of the time, up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time, and more than 100 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
