About the role

The Urban Beekeeper manages a selection of client accounts and their honeybee or other urban greening services.

The role reports to the Beekeeping Territory Lead and supports client experience, city expansion, beekeeping, and urban greening.

Contract and compensation

  • Seasonal part-time contract from August 24, 2026 to December 1, 2026.
  • Hourly salary is CAD 20.67.
  • The English description also states that the position is 40 hours per week, while the French description calls it full-time.

Workplace and schedule

  • The role is based on-site in Montréal and includes regular driving to client sites, apiaries, equipment locations, and suppliers.
  • The schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional early mornings or late evenings depending on seasonal needs.

Client experience

  • Follow Alvéole procedures to provide high-quality service and client experiences.
  • Build relationships with businesses, schools, and organizations in person and online.
  • Manage client communications, engagement, feedback, and project delivery.
  • Install and maintain beehives, bee hotels, and pollinator-friendly gardens; collect data, control pests and parasites, and facilitate educational workshops.
  • Represent Alvéole with clients, media, and members of the public.

City expansion and operations

  • Support facilities including apiaries, warehouse space, workspace, vehicles, equipment, supplies, and storage.
  • Coordinate harvest, extraction, data collection, and product fulfillment logistics.
  • Support project sales through canvassing, site feasibility visits, and client referrals.
  • Meet team objectives, communicate about planning and problem-solving, complete administrative duties, and respect the city budget.

Beekeeping and urban greening

  • Maintain multiple honey beehives at client sites and in apiaries throughout the beekeeping season.
  • Apply beekeeping best practices, including colony health activities and record-keeping.
  • Contribute to internal expertise in wild bees and urban greening.
  • Drive regularly and organize, clean, and maintain equipment and storage.
  • Attend internal training on bees, beekeeping, and urban greening.

Essential qualifications

  • Interest in pollinators, beekeeping, urban greening, and/or environmental, social and governance topics.
  • A valid driver's license held for more than three years, a clean driving record, and comfort driving in cities.
  • Comfort with stings, heavy lifting up to 40 pounds, inclement weather, and working at heights; training is provided for heights.
  • Comfort using Gmail, Google Workspace, Slack, public speaking, and group presentations.
  • Availability for seasonal schedule changes and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, proactive, and problem-solving abilities.

Bonus qualifications

  • Customer relationship management platform experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Beekeeping experience.
  • Comfort with digital tools.
