Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee daily transportation activities including container movements between ports, terminals, customers, depots, and yards
- Manage both company owned and leased trucks and trailers, ensuring fleet availability and coordinating maintenance
- Lead, supervise, and develop transportation drivers, plan schedules, and monitor compliance
- Coordinate container movements with ports, depots, terminals, and customers, and monitor detention/demurrage
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Planning, Sales, and Warehouse teams to ensure customer delivery requirements
- Control transportation costs, monitor fuel consumption, and analyze KPIs to improve efficiency
- Ensure compliance with transportation laws, HSE policies, and maintain records
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or related field
- 7 10 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations
- At least 3 5 years in a managerial position
- Strong experience managing container transportation
- Experience with owned fleets and third party/leased fleets
- Knowledge of port, terminal, depot, and container yard operations
- Experience managing drivers and dispatch teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)

Job Summary
- The Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing all transportation operations across the company’s owned and leased fleet.
- Ensures efficient container movement between ports, customer locations, yards, and depots while maintaining safety, cost control, regulatory compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee daily transportation activities.
- Coordinate container movements between ports, terminals, customers, depots, and container yards.
- Ensure timely collection and delivery of import and export containers.
- Monitor fleet productivity and optimize truck utilization.
- Manage transportation schedules and dispatch activities.
- Minimize empty truck movements and optimize route planning.
- Manage both company owned and leased trucks and trailers.
- Ensure fleet availability and maximize equipment utilization.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor vehicle inspections, registrations, permits, and insurance.
- Evaluate fleet performance and recommend fleet expansion or replacement.
- Lead, supervise, and develop transportation drivers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in logistics or fleet management are an advantage.
- 7–10 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations.
- At least 3–5 years in a managerial position.
- Strong experience managing container transportation.
- Experience with owned fleets and third party/leased fleets.
- Knowledge of port, terminal, depot, and container yard operations.
- Experience managing drivers and dispatch teams.
- Knowledge of container logistics operations, fleet management systems, TMS, GPS tracking, route optimization, fleet maintenance planning, driver compliance, yard and depot operations, import/export container processes, cost analysis, and transportation budgeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
- Strong leadership, planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, negotiation, communication, time management, and customer focused skills.
