The Team and The Role

  • Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the technology engine for Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
  • GBME is searching for a Technical Product Manager to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams.
  • The successful candidate will have a results oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills.

Key Skills/Experience Required

  • Experience in capturing business requirements for building a Derivate Products Trading Application covering Trade Capture, Integration with Pricing Models.
  • Familiar with Trade Life Cycle for derivative products events such as Amend, Unwind, Rate Reset or Fixing Process and Realized Cashflows.
  • Advanced Knowledge of derivative financial instruments such as Interest Rate Swap, Cap/Floor, Inflation asset swaps, etc.
  • Strong knowledge in market data used to price derivative instruments.
  • Familiar with end to end trade workflows among the Front, Middle and Back Offices systems.

In this role you will

  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive.
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models.
  • Participate in the development of detailed project plans, monitoring progress, financial review, and securing consensus.
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle.
  • Liaise between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.

Do you have the skills?

  • 3+ years’ practical experience and product business knowledge in capital markets.
  • Minimum 3 years’ working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server.
  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC.
  • Proficient with Unix Tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.), SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field.
