Role overview

Yasmina British Academy is seeking a Physical Education Teacher to join its Abu Dhabi team from January 2027.

The role supports the PE department, delivers high-quality teaching and contributes to students' academic, physical and social development.

Department support

  • Assist with PE department administration, displays and lesson support.
  • Monitor PE equipment and storage and help create lesson resources.
  • Contribute to school squad provision and extracurricular activities, with football, basketball or athletics preferred.

Teaching and learning

  • Plan, prepare and deliver differentiated lessons with clear objectives, appropriate challenge and effective assessment.
  • Use varied teaching methods, questioning, learning resources and technology to support student understanding.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment, promote good behaviour and identify students requiring additional challenge or support.

Assessment and reporting

  • Assess learning objectives, mark and monitor work, set progress targets and maintain systematic student records.
  • Use performance data to inform planning and differentiated learning and prepare reports for parents.
  • Undertake assessments required by examination bodies, the department and the academy.

Professional duties

  • Work with colleagues, parents and other professionals to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, academy improvement activities, open evenings, consultations and school events.
  • Follow health and safety, safeguarding, acceptable-use, performance-management and other academy policies.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field with a teaching qualification is required.
  • At least two years of specialist-subject teaching experience up to GCSE and A Level is desirable but not essential.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check or police check is required.
  • Experience with examination PE, sports coaching, extracurricular activities and students whose first language is not English is desirable.

Subject knowledge and approach

  • Excellent knowledge of volleyball, basketball and athletics is requested.
  • The role requires professionalism, commitment to educating the whole child, respect for the school community and a positive, solution-focused attitude.
