Role overview

Systems engineering

• Define and maintain aircraft and subsystem technical requirements.
• Translate operational, project, and customer needs into testable requirements.
• Develop system architecture, functional breakdowns, technical specifications, and concepts.
• Allocate requirements and maintain traceability between design, verification, and test results.
• Support technical trade-off studies and system-level engineering decisions.

Integration and interfaces

• Coordinate integration of structures, propulsion, drivetrain, landing gear, payloads, cooling, avionics, electrical systems, and flight controls.
• Define and manage mechanical, electrical, thermal, physical, and functional interfaces.
• Review packaging, accessibility, maintainability, weight, and centre-of-gravity considerations.
• Prepare Interface Control Documents and coordinate interfaces across engineering, manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing teams.
• Evaluate changes for impacts on connected systems, performance, safety, weight, cost, and schedule.

Reviews, risk, and testing

• Participate in requirements, preliminary design, critical design, and test-readiness reviews.
• Review CAD assemblies, drawings, calculations, specifications, test procedures, and reports.
• Identify technical risks, integration risks, design gaps, and potential system failures.
• Support failure analysis, verification and validation planning, test activities, and resolution of non-conformities.
• Confirm applicable requirements are verified before design release or aircraft acceptance.

Documentation

• Maintain requirements, architecture, interface, verification, risk, configuration, and engineering records.
• Support Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management processes.
• Ensure technical records are accurate, controlled, complete, and traceable.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of five years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in systems engineering, mechanical integration, aerospace, UAVs, defence, automotive, or another complex multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience in requirements, architecture, interface management, integration, verification, and validation.
• Ability to review drawings, CAD assemblies, specifications, calculations, and test reports.
• Experience with engineering change control, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous UAV, aircraft, aerospace, aviation, or defence-system development experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of aircraft structures, propulsion, drivetrain, avionics, flight controls, payloads, and thermal-management systems is preferred.
• Prototype development, assembly, integration, ground testing, or flight-testing experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering, the V-model lifecycle, requirements tools, CAD, PDM, or PLM tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of systems safety, reliability, qualification, certification, or airworthiness principles is preferred.
