Structural Engineer - Steel (Pedestrian bridge)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction, maintenance, refurbishment, and rehabilitation of steel pedestrian bridges.
• Review structural, shop, fabrication, and method statement drawings.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, fabricators, and authorities.
• Monitor fabrication, welding, bolting, painting, galvanizing, and corrosion protection works.
• Conduct inspections and condition assessments of existing pedestrian bridges.
• Recommend repair, strengthening, or replacement solutions for structural defects.
• Supervise site erection, lifting operations, and installation of bridge components.
• Ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality, RTA, project specifications, and international bridge standards.
• Review material submittals, inspection requests, quality records, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with planning, QA/QC, HSE, and construction teams.
• Prepare technical and progress reports with structural assessment recommendations.
• Ensure all works are completed safely under approved procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in steel bridge construction, maintenance, or rehabilitation projects.
• Proven UAE experience with steel pedestrian bridges, footbridges, or foot over bridges.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and bridge maintenance.
• Experience with structural inspections, condition assessments, and repair methodologies.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, BS, Eurocodes, and relevant UAE regulations.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Tekla Structures, or AutoCAD.
• Understanding of bridge construction methodologies and temporary works requirements.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualification

• A UAE driving license is preferred.

Preferred Project Experience

• Experience with steel truss footbridges, pedestrian overpasses, and foot over bridges.
• Experience with steel arch footbridges and cable-stayed pedestrian bridges.
• Experience with bridge rehabilitation, strengthening, steel fabrication, and erection.
• Experience with RTA Dubai bridge projects.

Work Location

• The role is based in Dubai and includes site execution and erection supervision activities.
