Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of structural engineering experience
- At least 5 7 years focused on blast and explosion engineering
- Hands on experience with blast and explosion analysis software (LS DYNA, ANSYS Autodyn, ABAQUS/Explicit, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of blast load modelling, nonlinear material behaviour, dynamic structural response, progressive collapse, and protective design
- Experience delivering structural designs for high security, defence, industrial, or mission critical facilities preferred
- Excellent communication, technical reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills

Role Overview
- Seeking a highly experienced Structural Design Engineer with specialised expertise in blast and explosion engineering to join a leading design and construction consultancy in Abu Dhabi.
- The role requires deep technical capability in analysing, modelling, and designing structures to withstand blast loads, abnormal loading conditions, and high risk scenarios.
- The successful candidate will lead structural design activities, support multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with international standards for blast resistant and protective design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and analysis of buildings and infrastructure requiring blast resistant, protective, or high risk structural performance.
- Perform advanced blast load determination, nonlinear dynamic analysis, and progressive collapse assessments.
- Develop structural models using specialised blast and explosion analysis software, ensuring accuracy, robustness, and code compliance.
- Prepare detailed design reports, calculations, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, project managers, and external authorities to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on material behaviour under extreme loading, structural detailing, and mitigation strategies.
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and method statements related to structural and blast resistant design.
- Ensure all designs meet relevant international standards (UFC, GSA, ASCE, ACI, Eurocodes, etc.).

Mandatory Technical Expertise
- Proven hands on experience with blast and explosion analysis software, including LS DYNA, ANSYS Autodyn, ABAQUS/Explicit, ANSYS, or equivalent nonlinear dynamic analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of blast load modelling and simulation, nonlinear material behaviour, dynamic structural response, progressive collapse and abnormal load design, and protective design principles.
- Experience delivering structural designs for high security, defence, industrial, or mission critical facilities is highly preferred.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5–7 years focused on blast and explosion engineering.
- Demonstrated experience working within design consultancies on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong knowledge of international structural codes and blast resistant design standards.
- Excellent communication, technical reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.
