Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses/issues
- Develop and implement individualized plan of care in partnership with patient, family, and healthcare team
- Administer medications according to organization policies and procedures
- Perform treatments and procedures according to established guidelines and protocols
- Provide health teaching and health promotion to patients and families
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes and revise plan of care as needed
- Provide comprehensive clinical handover/report to ensure patient safety
- Participate in evidence based practice and research activities
- Supervise practical nurses, junior staff, and student nurses
- Respond to emergencies according to organization policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum 2 years course duration) AND Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia
- Valid/current national license
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience post qualification in appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing graduates)
- ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty (desired)

Job Purpose
- The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
- Supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
- Understands, supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of SSMC; provides age appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues.
- Planning and Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan that addresses health promotion, health restoration and health maintenance.
- Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and healthcare team members.
- Health teaching and health promotion: Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.
- Evaluation: Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Evidence based Practice and Research: Integrates evidence and research findings into practice.
- Leadership: Demonstrates leadership behaviors in practice settings, across the profession, and in the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: NLT 2 years clinical experience post qualification in appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing graduates).
- Required: Bachelor degree in nursing OR Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) AND Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia AND valid/current national license AND BLS.
- Desired: ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty.
