Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat patients according to established standards of best practice for neurology
- Oversee the clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for the care they provide
- Lead ward rounds; reassess both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis
- Accurately document all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion
- Regularly review results of all investigations and modify treatment as required
- Liaise with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
- Actively participate in multi disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care
- Ensure preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
- Accept clinically appropriate referrals from various sources
- Participate in on call coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays
- Help lead quality improvement within the Department
- Promote and participate in clinical research and publication
Requirements
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification; Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification
- Qualification from Tier 1 or Tier 2
- Current national license or equivalent
- Certified proof of yearly CME

JOB DESCRIPTION
- The Consultant Physician is responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence based care; effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the post holder’s care.
- The Consultant Physician is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within his or her specialty and to provide leadership and training for junior medical staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures
- Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes
- Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes
- Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times
- Attends Divisional meetings as required
- Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate
- Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief
- Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty
- Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and assumes responsibility for the care they provide
- Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
- Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification.
- Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in an internationally accredited institute.
- For UAE Nationals: Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience as follows: Each year of clinical fellowship is counted as two years of clinical Experience.
