Purpose

Responsible for the engineering, design, implementation, support and administration of

Microsoft Sql Server

environments.

The role ensures high availability, scalability, and security of data, providing expert-level support while managing database-related projects end-to-end.

While SQL Server is the primary focus, the candidate will provide secondary support for Oracle environments where required.

Database Administration & Operations

  • **Core Management:**
  • Install, configure, and optimize

Microsoft Sql Server

  • .
  • Provide optional/secondary support for Oracle (12c-21c), as needed.
  • **High Availability:**
  • Expertly setup, implement and administer SQL Server

Always-On Availability Groups

and

Failover Clustering

  • .
  • **Optimization:**
  • Manage instances, schemas, indexes, and partitions specifically tuned for SQL Server workloads.
  • **Troubleshooting:**
  • Resolve complex bottlenecks, locking/blocking issues, and long-running queries.

Backup, Recovery & Security

  • **Protection:**

Log Shipping

  • .
  • **Validation:**
  • Perform regular restoration tests and disaster recovery drills.
  • **Security:**
  • Implement SQL Server encryption (TDE, SSL/TLS), role-based access control, and auditing.

Engineering & Architecture

  • **Design:**
  • Translate business requirements into optimized SQL Server architectures.
  • **Modernization:**
  • Perform capacity planning and evaluate migrations.
  • **Documentation:**
  • Create SOPs, disaster recovery procedures, and upgrade plans.

Project & Service Management

  • **Projects:**
  • Manage end-to-end setup, upgrades, migrations, and consolidations.
  • **Support:**
  • Act as support for database incidents, adhering standard support frameworks.
  • **Monitoring:**
  • Provide response to critical alerts using known monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Grafana, or Zabbix.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

Relevant Experience

7–10 years as a DBA, with a primary focus on large-scale

Sql Server

environments.

Technical Core

Expert knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server High Availability (Always-On), and Performance Tuning.

Optional Skills

Working knowledge or experience in

Oracle Database administration

is a significant plus.

Functional Skills

Advanced troubleshooting, scripting (PowerShell/Python), and reporting in English and Arabic.
