Requirements
- Experience in pricing, cost engineering, or commercial analysis within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills
- Knowledge of ocean, air, and land freight operations and cost structures
- Proficiency in ERP/TMS systems and Microsoft Office

Job Overview
- The Pricing Specialist is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with business objectives.
- The role involves evaluating market trends, cost structures, and customer requirements, preparing pricing proposals, and supporting sales and commercial teams with accurate pricing information to maximize revenue and business growth.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Pricing & Cost Engineering: Procure and own the analysis of carrier and agent buy rates and internal cost baselines across ocean, air, land freight and customs clearance to engineer profitable, competitive sell rates.
- Build, maintain and govern regional and global freight tariff matrices spanning ocean, air and land modes.
- Review baseline operational costs (fuel, toll, port fees, driver allocations) to ensure pricing accuracy.
- Tender & RFQ Management: Lead formal tender processes, Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and customer contract renewals across ocean, air, land and clearance, in close partnership with the Freight Manager and Sales teams.
- Populate complex RFQ rate sheets and customer templates with precise pricing data.
- Perform historical data analysis on lane volumes and past win/loss metrics to guide bidding strategies.
- Ensure all quote submissions adhere to internal margin guidelines and deadlines.
- Margin Optimization & Leakage Control: Monitor the financial health of active lanes and accounts to maximize gross margins and prevent revenue leakage.
- Conduct regular audits of quoted rates versus actual invoiced amounts to identify discrepancy trends.
- Track and evaluate customer specific contribution margins.
- Flag underperforming lanes or unprofitable spot business to the Freight Manager for rate adjustments.
- Market Intelligence & Carrier Benchmarking: Gather and organize market intelligence regarding competitor pricing, capacity constraints, and freight market trends.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform benchmarking exercises against market standard indexes and competitor rates.
- Maintain active communication channels with procurement and overseas agents to track shifting carrier and agent rates.
- Assist in building predictive pricing models based on seasonal market fluctuations.
- Reporting & Governance: Maintain data integrity across internal systems (ERP/TMS) and generate periodic commercial performance reports.
- Track key operational pricing KPIs: Quote Turnaround Time, Hit Rate (Win/Loss ratio), and Gross Margin per Lane.
- Prepare monthly commercial pricing reviews and variance presentations for the Freight Manager.
- Ensure all finalized tariffs and approved spot rates are accurately logged into the ERP system to facilitate seamless billing.
- Solutions Design & Development: Design end to end, multimodal freight and clearance solutions (ocean, air, land and customs) tailored to complex customer requirements.
- Translate customer requirements and tender specifications into costed, operationally viable solution proposals, in coordination with Operations and Sales.
- Develop reusable solution templates and alternative routes (e.g. gateway diversions) to speed up response times and protect margin.
- Global Agent & Partner Relations: Develop and manage the global overseas agent and partner network across key trade lanes, securing competitive buy rates and reliable capacity.
- Negotiate agent and co loader agreements, onboard new partners, and monitor service performance against agreed SLAs.
