Job Purpose

  • The Specialist Pipelines engineer is responsible for technical assurance & compliance of the CONTRACTOR to COMPANY's discipline scope, specifications, codes & standards and industry best practices.

Key Accountabilities Technical Assurance

  • Verify and achieve technical integrity of project deliverables in compliance with legislation, codes, standards, certification, and Basis of Design.
  • Engage in or lead technical audits to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in design reviews requiring discipline input.
  • Review and approve discipline specific engineering documents, assign review codes, and consolidate comments.
  • Monitor contractor's overall compliance and engineering quality, provide feedback for improvements.

Engineering Change Management

  • Review discipline specific concession requests, validate basis and impact on technical integrity.
  • Monitor and ensure design change management is carried out with proper multidiscipline impact assessment.

General

  • Maintain regular meetings with discipline counterpart for coordination and problem resolution.
  • Communicate discipline specific updates to package engineering manager and other disciplines.
  • Maintain time records and submit timesheets for approval.
  • Address technical conflicts and disputes professionally.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Must be fluent in English language (Written & Spoken).

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 15 years of discipline specific experience with 5 years on major Oil & Gas projects.
  • 5 years of which in same position working with reputable contractor (PMC or EPC).
  • 5+ years GCC Projects experience/UAE Projects experience preferred.
  • Site based experience, brown field work is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry governing codes & standards.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Fully conversant with relevant international standards and good practices.
  • Fully conversant with relevant engineering software (CII, Microstation, AUTOCAD, Navisworks).
  • Fully conversant with principles of 'safety in design'.
  • Good understanding of construction techniques and constructability issues.
