Daikan Izakaya in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team.
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to support kitchen operations and maintain food quality and presentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, workflow, food preparation, and presentation.
- Mentor and train kitchen staff, including junior cooks, on culinary skills and food safety practices.
- Collaborate on seasonal specials, new dishes, and menu development.
- Monitor food quality and presentation at all stages of production.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, storage, and food cost control.
- Maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations.
- Foster teamwork and communication among kitchen staff.
- Resolve kitchen issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on Japanese cooking techniques.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Creative mindset and ability to contribute to menu development.
- A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
