Role Overview
The Software Engineer joins the Messaging team to maintain and improve legacy systems that scale and perform efficiently.
The systems are cloud-deployed across multiple regions and make extensive use of containerised Java applications.
The engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and contributes across software architecture, development and the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities
- Write clean, well-tested code for defined features and fixes across the team's technology stack.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, incremental delivery, feedback and continuous improvement.
- Write and maintain automated tests and verify behaviour before release.
- Build competence with AWS and cloud infrastructure and take on infrastructure-related tasks.
- Participate in code reviews and pairing sessions.
- Work with Product and QA to deliver features and clarify requirements.
- Investigate, mitigate and remediate production incidents, escalating when necessary.
