Role overview
Affirm's Affirm Card team owns systems that operate after card transactions settle, including customer account accuracy and issue resolution.
The engineer will help shape customer-facing outcomes while solving backend engineering challenges at scale.
The role includes working with product, compliance, and cross-functional partner teams.
What you'll do
- Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates for timely delivery.
- Participate in ideation with product management, design, and analytics while articulating technical constraints and evaluating risks and trade-offs.
- Create and monitor operational metrics, escalate issues, and support on-call efforts.
- Participate in team growth and development activities, including interviews.
- Build and operate post-transaction systems that maintain accurate customer accounts and support timely resolutions and communications.
What we look for
- At least 1.5 years of software engineering experience is required.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems is required.
- Proficiency in Python or Kotlin is required.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes is desirable.
