Role Overview

What You Will Do

• Plan and prioritize projects using product, technical, and business goals.
• Design and build backend systems, APIs, and data models for communications, experimentation, and personalization.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, and Analytics teams on customer acquisition and engagement strategies.
• Maintain secure, observable, and performant services at scale.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative culture of technical excellence.
• Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues, and support on-call operations.

What We Look For

• Six or more years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
• Production experience delivering complex backend systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical documentation.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Design teams.
• Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or a similar language and experience with AWS or another major cloud provider.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with experimentation platforms; familiarity with event-driven architectures and stream processing is advantageous.

Workplace

• This is a remote role open to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.

Compensation

• The Canadian base pay range is $153,000 to $213,000 CAD per year.
• The total compensation package may include equity rewards, monthly spending stipends, and benefits.
