About the Role
MongoDB is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Relational Migrator team, focusing on code conversion using AI and text processing. You will develop and maintain code parsers, implement AI-based features, and collaborate with product managers and engineers.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement a code modernisation strategy
- Develop and maintain a robust code parser to interpret legacy code structures and convert them to a standardised format like AST
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and approaches
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand business priorities and propose solutions
- Contribute to and maintain high code quality with tests (load, unit, integration)
- Share knowledge through brown bags, tech talks, and evangelising engineering best practices
- Define and improve business & product metrics to optimise quality and cost of AI usage
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software development experience in Java or another programming language
- Experience with generative AI and LLMs is highly desirable
- Experience with text processing engines such as ANTLR is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of software engineering, system design, data engineering and/or cloud architecture
- Experience with compiler design, code parsing or related areas
- Familiarity with abstract syntax trees, lexical analysis, and syntax analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

About the Role
- MongoDB is seeking a Software Engineer for the Relational Migrator team.
- The team helps customers transition from relational databases to MongoDB using AI and text processing.
- This role will be based in North America in PST and MST zones.
Ideal Candidate
- 2+ years of professional software development experience in Java or another language.
- Experience with generative AI and LLMs is highly desirable.
- Experience with text processing engines such as ANTLR is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of software engineering, system design, data engineering and/or cloud architecture.
- Experience with compiler design, code parsing or related areas.
- Familiarity with abstract syntax trees, lexical analysis, and syntax analysis.
- Curiosity, positive attitude, and drive to continue learning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Position Expectations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement a code modernisation strategy.

- Within 3 months: Familiarize with MongoDB database and aggregation language, set up development infrastructure, start collaborating.
- Within 6 months: Deliver a large scale AI based feature, contribute to releases, review technical design documents.
- Within 12 months: Deliver large scale features across tech stack, help recruit, collaborate with other teams.

Compensation
- Base salary range for Canada: CAD 108,000 CAD 149,000.
