Position Summary
Lead business development and sales for physical and digital AI-powered welding solutions in global shipbuilding and naval defense markets.
Build strategic relationships with shipyards, naval defense contractors, government agencies, engineering firms, and system integrators.
Own revenue expansion and strategic account growth, with primary focus on North America and additional global markets.
Business Development and Sales
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans and pursue new business opportunities in shipbuilding and naval defense.
- Sell automation systems, welding equipment, software platforms, analytics, and productivity tools.
- Manage executive relationships and complex technical sales opportunities, including demonstrations, pilots, and negotiations.
- Review RFQs and agreements for ITAR/EAR boundaries, CUI handling, and defense flow-down requirements.
Technical and Territory Responsibilities
- Understand customer welding, manufacturing, workforce, quality, and production challenges.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and application specialists on tailored solutions.
- Manage territory growth across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, South Korea, and Singapore.
- Travel extensively to customer sites, shipyards, trade events, and industry conferences.
Market Intelligence and Reporting
- Monitor shipbuilding programs, naval modernization, defense budgets, automation, digitalization, and competitive activity.
- Provide market feedback to leadership and product development teams.
- Maintain CRM pipeline accuracy and forecasting, meet sales targets, and prepare strategic account reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, welding technology, manufacturing, business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 10 years of successful B2B sales experience in relevant shipbuilding, defense, marine, welding, fabrication, or manufacturing sectors.
- Experience selling to shipyards, naval defense organizations, marine OEMs, or defense contractors.
- Strong welding, fabrication, ship construction, or industrial manufacturing knowledge.
- Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR export-control definitions.
- Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and FAR/DFARS defense subcontracting flow-down mechanisms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in welding engineering, inspection, manufacturing engineering, naval architecture, or marine engineering.
- Experience selling welding equipment, automation, robotics, industrial software, AI, or digital manufacturing solutions.
- Familiarity with CUI handling, NIST SP 800-171, or CMMC frameworks.
- Ability to qualify for or maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance if required.
Location and Travel
- Remote within North America, with a strong preference for U.S.-based candidates.
- Extensive international travel is required, with travel of up to 50%.
