Role Overview

The Senior VCS Engineer owns operational stability, performance, and lifecycle management for enterprise compute, virtualization, and VDI platforms.

The role combines infrastructure ownership with end-user computing reliability through automation, monitoring, disaster recovery readiness, and configuration management.

Compute Infrastructure

  • Support HPE, Dell, Cisco UCS, and Nutanix enterprise hardware platforms.
  • Perform break/fix, hardware validation, firmware and lifecycle upgrades, and coordination with remote hands and vendors.
  • Maintain platform health, uptime, and operational consistency.

Virtualization and VDI

  • Administer VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi environments and manage clusters, hosts, and virtual machine lifecycles.
  • Manage VDI lifecycle, stability, performance, gold images, desktop pools, and application delivery workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex VDI incidents and perform root cause analysis.

Capacity and Monitoring

  • Monitor and manage VDI resource utilization and optimize compute and storage allocation for peak usage.
  • Define monitoring standards, improve alert quality, and report on system health, utilization, and performance trends.

Resiliency and Automation

  • Support replication strategies such as Zerto and execute disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
  • Develop PowerCLI, PowerShell, or equivalent automation for provisioning, reporting, compliance checks, and operational workflows.
  • Maintain runbooks and recovery readiness for critical systems.

Configuration and Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate configuration items and relationships in CMDB systems and support audit readiness.
  • Work across compute, storage, network, and desktop engineering teams and coordinate with vendors and support teams.
  • Act as an escalation point for infrastructure and VDI-related issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi administration experience.
  • Experience supporting HPE, Dell, Cisco UCS, and Nutanix enterprise compute platforms.
  • Strong VDI operations experience, PowerShell or PowerCLI proficiency, infrastructure troubleshooting skills, and production operations experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Zerto or similar replication technology experience.
  • VMware Aria Operations or enterprise monitoring platform familiarity.
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning experience, CMDB or ServiceNow governance exposure, and regulated-environment experience.

Compensation

  • Expected base salary ranges from $111,000 to $180,000 annually.
  • Eligible candidates may receive a discretionary bonus and employee benefits.

Workplace

  • Mizuho has a hybrid working program with remote-work opportunities varying by role, department needs, and applicable laws.
