Fetch is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build AI-driven products that improve pet health and veterinary care.

About Fetch
Fetch provides an app for pet insurance, health, and care and is growing its product and engineering team.
The role is with Fetch; Hatch is supporting the recruitment process.
Core responsibilities
- Build products and event-driven systems for pet health data, veterinary workflows, and pet parent interactions.
- Develop reliable AI features with guardrails, evaluations, monitoring, structured outputs, and explainability.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, operations, and product teams on measurable improvements.
- Build workflow engines with audit trails, replayable decisions, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical strategy and quality standards.
About you
- At least 5 years of experience shipping impactful software at scale.
- Comfort with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and GCP or similar technologies.
- Strong backend foundations in scalable distributed systems, resilience, and decision auditability.
- Experience with event-driven architectures or workflow engines.
- Production AI experience with structured outputs, evaluation loops, and guardrails.
- Strong reliability, observability, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Healthcare, veterinary, fintech, or related industry experience is a bonus.
Technology focus
- The technology stack includes TypeScript, React, Next.js, NestJS, and GCP.
- The role uses event-driven architecture, workflow engines, AI evaluation loops, and platform domain models.
Work arrangement
- The role is based in Sydney with a hybrid schedule of three office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
