The Senior Relationship Manager in the Government Banking Group is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with government bodies, quasi-judicial authorities, autonomous organizations, and state departments. The role focuses on maximizing profitability, meeting business targets, and minimizing risk while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory guidelines. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, the role involves driving customer penetration across current accounts, retail assets, and government banking products, contributing to the bank’s overall objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure seamless customer onboarding by implementing best-in-class servicing standards and processes.
- Develop deep client relationships to position the bank as the preferred banking partner.
- Spearhead business generation within regulatory and risk parameters to expand trade volumes for the Government Banking Group.
- Establish partnerships with financial institutions to share revenue streams and realize synergies.
- Understand client needs, business models, and sector characteristics to structure tailored solutions.
- Ensure accurate and timely KYC compliance and risk categorization.
- Drive acquisition of high-value accounts after thorough due diligence.
- Ideate and implement strategies to create diversified revenue streams and facilitate campaigns for customer penetration.
- Analyze client financial reports to identify early warning signals and mitigate risks.
- Monitor portfolios and flag potential issues while maintaining regular client touchpoints.
- Perform credit analysis as mandated by RBI guidelines.
- Gather and leverage market intelligence to adopt best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Legal) to ensure efficient processes and desired outcomes.
- Develop mechanisms to measure and monitor customer satisfaction and implement process improvements.
- Ensure high-quality customer service and address complaints to maintain satisfaction and grow treasury business.
Managerial & Leadership Responsibilities
- Champion a customer-first culture by driving high service standards across the team.
- Attract and retain top talent for key roles within the reporting structure.
- Monitor employee productivity, hiring quality, and attrition rates; implement improvements as needed.
Education
Graduate in any discipline.
Postgraduate degree preferred, ideally MBA in Finance.
Experience
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Government Banking.
