Role Overview
POWERCHINA is hiring two Electrical Secondary Design Engineers specializing in protection and control.
The role is based within the Dubai design hub and supports UAE and Middle East and Africa projects.
This is a design and engineering position; candidates with only site installation, maintenance, testing, or commissioning experience may not be suitable.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform secondary engineering and protection and control design for HV/EHV substations.
- Prepare and review protection SLDs, control and protection schematics, AC/DC diagrams, wiring and termination diagrams, and interlocking logic.
- Prepare trip matrices, cable schedules, and I/O and signal lists.
- Perform relay setting calculations, protection coordination and selectivity studies, and CT/VT sizing.
- Develop protection schemes for transformers, lines and cables, busbars, and feeders.
- Review control and relay panel designs and coordinate interfaces with SCADA, RTU, BCU, IED, and teleprotection systems.
- Support FAT, SAT, testing, and commissioning.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
