Key responsibilities
- Perform secondary engineering and detailed design for HV/EHV substations.
- Prepare and review protection and control, AC/DC, interlocking, wiring, and panel drawings.
- Prepare I/O lists, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, equipment lists, and related documentation.
- Coordinate protection, control, metering, and substation automation design.
- Support relay protection engineering and technical requirements.
- Support IEC 61850-based substation automation and communication systems.
- Review vendor documents, equipment submissions, and engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate with primary design, SCADA and telecom, civil, and other disciplines.
- Support procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with project, client, and international standards.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Five to eight years of relevant substation secondary design or protection and control experience.
- Hands-on HV/EHV substation design experience, preferably involving 132kV, 220kV, or 400kV systems.
- Strong knowledge of protection and control, relay protection, AC/DC systems, and secondary design.
- Good understanding of IEC 61850 and relevant international standards.
- International EPC, UAE/GCC, and major utility experience are preferred rather than mandatory.
- Good English communication and multidisciplinary engineering coordination skills.
