Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer – Civil leads civil construction activities for infrastructure, underground utilities, chilled water pipelines, and district cooling projects.
The role is responsible for safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery in line with drawings, specifications, schedules, and UAE requirements.
Civil Construction Delivery
- Lead and supervise civil and infrastructure works for chilled water pipeline and district cooling projects.
- Coordinate excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, bedding, backfilling, compaction, and reinstatement.
- Supervise chambers, manholes, thrust blocks, concrete works, and pipeline-related structures.
- Supervise road crossings, temporary works, kerbstones, paving, asphalt works, and road reinstatement.
Technical Coordination
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, profiles, sections, specifications, and technical documents.
- Coordinate surveying for setting out, levels, coordinates, alignment, and invert levels.
- Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, QA/QC, HSE, utilities, and relevant authorities.
- Identify technical issues, site constraints, risks, and delays and recommend corrective actions.
Quality, Safety, and Controls
- Ensure work follows approved method statements, ITPs, drawings, specifications, permits, and project schedules.
- Monitor progress, manpower, equipment, materials, productivity, resource requirements, wastage, rework, and construction costs.
- Prepare progress reports, inspection requests, material requirements, site records, and technical reports.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, approvals, and rectification works with QA/QC and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with UAE HSE requirements, excavation safety, traffic management, permits, and environmental procedures.
Leadership and Project Support
- Provide technical guidance to project engineers, site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Participate in planning, progress, coordination, and technical meetings with consultants, clients, and project management.
- Support the Project Manager in achieving milestones, cost targets, quality standards, productivity, and timely completion.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 7 years of relevant civil construction experience.
- Strong experience in district cooling, chilled water pipelines, underground utilities, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of excavation, trenching, chambers, road works, concrete works, backfilling, compaction, and reinstatement.
- Ability to interpret civil and infrastructure drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience coordinating consultants, authorities, subcontractors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supervising site engineers, supervisors, foremen, and construction teams.
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, method statements, inspections, and testing requirements.
- UAE or GCC infrastructure or district cooling experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
