Role Overview
The Senior Project Engineer will undertake materials engineering projects within the Materials Division as part of UKAEA’s fusion research programme.
Projects may be completed independently or with teams involving universities, industrial partners, and overseas research organizations.
The role determines project scope, recruits team or project members where relevant, delivers engineering projects, and reports to key stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects and manage procurement, scope, funding, resources, and technical delivery.
- Produce technical reports, stakeholder presentations, user documentation, and TDMS or legal compliance documentation.
- Lead and line manage a small engineering team, provide technical direction, allocate resources, oversee subcontractors, and support recruitment.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, legal requirements, and UKCA certification in collaboration with UKAEA Central Engineering.
- Contribute to engineering knowledge, design standards, and best practice.
- Represent UKAEA at meetings, technical forums, and national and international events.
- Deputise for the MRF Lead Engineer and support engineering management, technical governance, and document review.
