Position Overview

The Senior Program Manager, Naval Programs will report to the Director of Defence and support the growth and execution of Gastops' naval business.

The role leads existing marine programs and supports strategic opportunities in global naval and coast guard markets.

The position bridges business development and program execution, transitioning opportunities into program leadership after contracts are awarded.

Work Location and Schedule

  • The position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, or Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
  • The work schedule is hybrid with four days onsite, with an onsite option also stated.

Program Leadership and Delivery

  • Lead transitions from capture into execution by establishing plans, governance, resources, and customer relationships.
  • Lead assigned DRA, SIM-STIM, naval product, and engineering services programs from contract award through delivery.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, and customer expectations with the project management office.
  • Ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Growth and Stakeholder Management

  • Support domestic and international naval and coast guard opportunity pursuits.
  • Assist with customer engagement, capture planning, proposals, and partnerships.
  • Position Gastops capabilities with customers, shipyards, OEMs, and industry partners.
  • Build relationships with customers, partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Gastops at program reviews, customer meetings, and industry events.

Financial and Contract Management

  • Communicate program status, risks, opportunities, and achievements to management and customers.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and financial performance.
  • Ensure contractual compliance and support negotiations, amendments, and follow-on opportunities.
  • Contribute to program management processes, tools, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related discipline.
  • Ten or more years of project or program management experience in naval, marine, or naval shipbuilding industries.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain NATO-level security clearance.
  • Experience with government, defence, marine, shipbuilding, or industrial customers.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% within Canada and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in French is an asset.
  • PMP designation is preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The stated salary range is $110,000 to $150,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and fit.
