Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to the business while keeping strategic and business objectives in mind
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents to maximize legal protections and minimize risks
- Structure, draft, review and negotiate transaction documentation for bilateral and syndicated sharia compliant financing transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate Islamic treasury and global markets products
- Assist the business in launching new products and conduct legal and regulatory due diligence
- Stay abreast of new laws and regulations and provide updates to senior business persons
- Manage team members by defining goals and key performance indicators and providing guidance and coaching
Requirements
- Experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating sharia compliant financing transactions
- Knowledge of Islamic treasury and global markets products (IIFM/ISDA TMAs, collateralised murabaha, sukuk)
- Experience in conventional transactional finance (LMA/APLMA) is required
- Ability to draft and negotiate sharia compliant consumer banking and trade documents
- Experience in managing a team and defining goals and KPIs

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice and support to the business while keeping in mind strategic and business objectives
- Provides direction and guidance to facilitate compliance with all applicable international and domestic laws
- Collaborates with the Head of Legal Global Corporate Finance & Islamic Banking to establish and implement Group legal policies
- Completes legal tasks and projects in a timely manner
- Supports subsidiaries and international branches by providing general legal oversight
- Drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts and other legal documents
- Produces and updates standardised legal agreements and standard terms and conditions
- Assists the business in launching new products and conducts legal and regulatory due diligence
- Stays abreast of new laws and regulations through continuous legal education
- Provides updates to senior business persons on new legislation and regulatory developments
- Works closely with other members of the legal function and shares legal knowledge
- Liaises with external authorities such as courts and law firms
Job Specific Accountability
- Structure, draft, review and negotiate transaction documentation for bilateral and syndicated sharia compliant financing transactions across project finance, structured and leveraged/acquisition finance, fund finance, real estate finance and asset finance, credit restructuring and other complex lend
- Structure, draft, review and negotiate Islamic treasury and global markets products (IIFM/ISDA TMAs, collateralised murabaha agreements, interbank deposit agreements, debt capital markets products)
- Drafts, reviews and negotiates sharia compliant consumer banking and trade and business banking related documents
- Drafts, reviews and negotiates sharia compliant global private banking related documents
- Drafts, reviews and negotiates sharia compliant bilateral facilities on standard form documentation
- Assists the business with review of existing standard form documentation developing and rolling out new sharia compliant products
- Makes recommendations for improvements to policies and processes
- Relevant experience on the full spectrum of conventional finance is a strong advantage
People Management Responsibilities
- Defines goals and key performance indicators for own reports and ensures effective implementation of performance management process
- Develops talent within the team by providing guidance and coaching to achieve defined goals
