Role overview
Develop backend Java capabilities and migrate front-end screens of a trading platform from Java Swing to modern technologies.
Work with the client's development team to improve the user experience for institutional buy-side clients.
Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 70% of time on Java backend development and 30% on front-end development.
- Modify the Java backend to support front-end migration and added capabilities.
- Migrate Java Swing user interface components while maintaining consistency, functionality, and performance.
- Gather client requirements, provide updates, incorporate feedback, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Write maintainable code, conduct testing and debugging, optimize performance, and maintain technical documentation.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of professional experience in backend Java plus either React or Angular development.
- Proficiency in backend Java, either React or Angular, TypeScript, and RESTful APIs.
- Financial services knowledge, strong problem-solving ability, communication skills, and collaborative working ability.
