- Generate resource estimates of prospects and leads and evaluate associated geologic risks

- Assist in finding, evaluating and executing new venture opportunities
- Screen New Venture opportunities on a geoscience technical level
- Participate or lead in data room evaluation projects and bid round roadshows
- Prepare exploration prospect/lead generation/analysis, resource evaluations and geologic risk assessments
- Review geoscience work produced by Exploration team or other technical advisors
- Ensure geoscience strategies, work processes, quality standards reflect current technologies and best practices
- Facilitate flow of information between New Venture team and Exploration, Drilling and/or Reservoir departments
- Work directly with new venture partners to carry out geoscience evaluation activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience in petroleum industry
- Broad oil and gas geoscience evaluation experience
- Operates independently under broad guidelines
- Masters degree is preferred

Job Purpose
- Provide geoscience assessments of new venture opportunities by analyzing geological data, including geophysical, petro physical, sedimentological and petrological evaluations, and incorporating them into integrated interpretations through Petrel modelling.
- Generate resource estimates of prospects and leads and evaluate the associated geologic risks; estimate geological chance of success in exploration opportunities.
- Recommend regarding the technical merits and risks of individual opportunities and present evaluation results internally and to partners as appropriate.
- Assist in finding, evaluating and executing new venture opportunities in exploration, production and development.
Job Responsibilities
- Screen New Venture opportunities on a geoscience technical level, including exploration and development projects and make recommendations regarding potential level of interest.
- Participate or lead as appropriate in data room evaluation projects, bid round roadshows, and other seller technical oriented sessions/processes.
- Prepare exploration prospect/lead generation/analysis, resource evaluations and geologic risk assessments for new venture opportunities, working with Exploration, Drilling and/or Reservoir departments.
- Review geoscience work produced by Exploration team or other technical advisors; support, challenge or oversee this work as necessary. Review and challenge petrel models generated by Exploration team.
- Ensure that geoscience strategies, work processes, quality standards and project deliverables reflect current technologies and oil and gas industry best practices.
- Facilitate the flow of information between the New Venture team and Exploration, Drilling and/or Reservoir departments; work actively with these departments for thorough peer review of work.
- Along with Drilling and Reservoir Departments, work directly with new venture partners to carry out geoscience evaluation activities related to evaluation of exploration and/or development investment opportunities.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience in petroleum industry, with broad oil and gas geoscience evaluation experience
- Operates independently under broad guidelines. Incumbents have broad responsibility for planning, organizing and prioritizing work.
