Role Overview
The employer is seeking a Senior Design System Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and governance of an enterprise design system.
The role bridges design and engineering to support consistency, scalability, accessibility, and reusability across digital products and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and evolve a scalable design system and reusable component library.
- Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, product managers, and engineering teams.
- Develop high-quality, accessible, responsive, and reusable UI components.
- Define and enforce design system standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Establish governance processes to ensure design consistency across products.
- Translate design tokens, patterns, and specifications into production-ready code.
- Drive adoption of the design system across multiple teams and business units.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
- Monitor system performance, scalability, and usability improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership for front-end architecture decisions.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is required.
- 5–10 years of experience in front-end engineering, UI engineering, or design system development is required.
- Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks is required.
- Hands-on experience with React and component-based architecture is required.
- Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale design systems is required.
- Strong understanding of design tokens is required.
