- Provide end to end accountability for design governance, technical assurance, consultant performance, and integrated design delivery
- Oversee design development from Strategic Planning through Construction Documentation
- Act as senior technical lead, influencing design strategy, delivery methodologies, standards application, and engineering best practices
- Ensure alignment between Development, Projects, and other Support Functions and stakeholder requirements
- Lead and direct multi disciplinary consultants and design teams, establishing technical priorities and quality expectations
- Review, challenge, and endorse technical submissions and consultant deliverables to support client governance
- Define design delivery strategies, sequencing, phasing, and resource planning at program and portfolio level
- Manage complex design interfaces across disciplines, infrastructure systems, assets, packages, and delivery teams
- Support value engineering, optimisation initiatives, and design efficiency improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
- 15+ years of experience in multi disciplinary design management on large, complex developments
- Proven experience acting as a senior technical lead and managing multiple consultants and infrastructure packages
- Strong experience in design governance, assurance, and complex interface management
- Demonstrated leadership in senior roles

Job Description
- Parsons is recruiting for a highly experienced Senior Design Manager to join their team.
- Within the Planning stream and reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Planning & Design, the Senior Design Manager provides strategic, technical, and managerial leadership for the delivery of multi disciplinary design across major programs, districts, precincts, and infrastructure asset portfol
- The role holds end to end accountability for design governance, technical assurance, consultant performance, and integrated design delivery from early strategic planning through to construction documentation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead strategic, technical, and managerial oversight for the delivery of multi disciplinary design across major programs, districts, precincts, and infrastructure asset portfolios.
- Provide end to end accountability for design governance, technical assurance, consultant performance, and integrated design delivery across all stages.
- Oversee design development from Strategic Planning and Concept Design through Schematic Design, Detailed Design, and Construction Documentation.
- Act as a senior technical lead within the team, influencing design strategy, delivery methodologies, standards application, and engineering best practices.
- Ensure alignment between Development, Projects, and other Support Functions and stakeholder requirements to support program and project objectives.
- Lead and direct multi disciplinary consultants and design teams, establishing technical priorities, quality expectations, and coordinated delivery approaches with a clear integrated programme.
- Review, challenge, and endorse technical submissions and consultant deliverables to support client governance and approval processes.
- Define design delivery strategies, sequencing, phasing, and resource planning at program and portfolio level.
- Manage complex design interfaces across disciplines, infrastructure systems, assets, packages, and delivery teams to ensure fully coordinated outcomes.
- Support value engineering, optimisation initiatives, and design efficiency improvements while maintaining technical integrity and delivery objectives and embed lessons learned, innovation, and best practice design management principles.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related discipline.
- 15+ Years’ experience in multi disciplinary design management on large, complex developments.
- Proven experience acting as a senior technical lead and managing multiple consultants and infrastructure packages.
- Strong experience in design governance, assurance, and complex interface management.
