Role Overview
An international engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager.
The role supports a major cargo terminal and international airport project in East Africa.
The position provides senior design leadership and coordination for multidisciplinary design packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process across all project stages.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities among architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Review and manage design submissions for compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, and standards.
- Monitor design progress, deliverables, interfaces, and program requirements.
- Identify and resolve design coordination issues and technical interfaces.
- Provide technical and design management support to the Project Director and wider project team.
- Coordinate design and construction activities during the site execution phase.
- Support design changes, value engineering, and technical reviews as required.
- Manage design activities within an operational airport environment where applicable.
Requirements
- Recognized degree in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 15 years of professional experience on large and complex projects.
- At least 10 years of professional experience on large international airport projects.
- Experience working within an operational airport environment is highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of site experience.
- Strong experience in multidisciplinary design management and coordination.
- Excellent understanding of design processes, technical interfaces, and construction requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
