Overview
This is a fully remote Canada position for a Senior Data Analyst / Data Modeler.
The role supports a multi-year transformation initiative modernizing data architecture, governance, analytics, and reporting in a financial services environment.
The position focuses on scalable data models for lending, credit, risk, financial decisions, regulatory reporting, and business intelligence.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models for customers, accounts, loans, balances, collateral, and payment structures.
- Translate business requirements into scalable architectures using dimensional modeling, normalized models, Data Vault, and domain-driven design.
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts on definitions and governance standards.
- Maintain data dictionaries, mapping documents, lineage artifacts, and metadata documentation.
- Optimize models for analytics, reporting, regulatory requirements, dashboards, and downstream applications.
- Support onboarding of mortgages, credit cards, secured lending, and revolving credit products.
- Validate scalability, usability, and performance within Snowflake environments.
- Contribute to bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture layers.
- Assist with data quality, business rule validation, and cross-system reconciliation activities.
Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in data analysis, data modeling, data architecture, or related disciplines.
- Strong enterprise data modeling experience in financial services, banking, lending, or regulated industries.
- Deep knowledge of credit and lending concepts, including loan lifecycles, balances, payments, interest, and customer-account relationships.
- Expertise in dimensional modeling, third normal form, and/or Data Vault methodologies.
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable, governed data structures.
- Experience with data governance frameworks and metadata management practices.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, or another cloud-based data platform.
- Ability to reconcile and standardize complex financial data definitions across source systems.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, documentation, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Bonus Skills
- Hands-on experience with ERwin Data Modeler or advanced ERwin data modeling.
- Experience with lakehouse or medallion architecture environments.
- Exposure to data governance and metadata platforms such as Collibra.
- Experience supporting regulated financial institutions, regulatory reporting, or compliance data initiatives.
- Knowledge of broader financial products and financial services ecosystems.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, business analytics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in data architecture, data governance, data modeling, Snowflake, AWS, analytics, or related disciplines are considered an asset.
Compensation
- Compensation is listed as $155,000-$165,000 annually or $92-$102 per hour.
- Final compensation depends on skill alignment, years of experience, and market-based geographic rates.
Workplace
- The position is fully remote within Canada.
