About the Role
A confidential company seeks a highly experienced Senior Crude Oil Trader to manage and grow its MED and WAF crude book. The role involves originating, structuring, and executing crude oil transactions, developing counterparty networks, and contributing to trading strategy.

Responsibilities
- Actively manage a crude oil trading book focused on MED & WAF grades to maximise margins and optimise risk adjusted returns
- Execute physical and paper transactions including spot cargoes, term contracts, CFDs, EFPs and Brent spreads on ICE and OTC markets
- Develop and maintain long term commercial relationships with NOCs, IOCs, refiners and trading counterparties across the Mediterranean and West Africa
- Analyse market fundamentals: regional supply/demand balances, quality differentials, refinery runs, shipping logistics and port access constraints
- Identify and capture cross basin arbitrage opportunities between Atlantic, Mediterranean and Asian markets
- Oversee trade execution from nomination to delivery: lay cans, B/Ls, letters of credit, coordination with middle and back office teams
- Monitor and manage risk exposure within VaR, stop loss and credit limits; contribute to daily P&L reporting
- Participate in long term supply negotiations and off take discussions with regional producers
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of crude oil trading experience with substantial exposure to MED and/or WAF crudes
- In depth knowledge of crude grades produced in the Mediterranean and West Africa
- Strong command of crude pricing mechanisms: Dated Brent, CFDs, EFPs, inter grade spreads and quality/freight differentials
- Established network of relationships with NOCs, IOCs, refiners and brokers across the region
- Sound understanding of tanker chartering (Aframax/Suezmax) and regional port logistics
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast paced, high pressure trading environment
- Fluent in English (mandatory)
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with trading tools: Bloomberg, Platts, Reuters Eikon
- Master's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, International Business or Engineering from a leading university

About the Role

- The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, structuring and executing crude oil transactions across the Mediterranean and West African basins.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively manage a crude oil trading book focused on MED & WAF grades (CPC Blend, Es Sider, Saharan Blend, Bonny Light, Forcados, Girassol, Djeno, CLSS) to maximise margins and optimise risk adjusted returns.
- Execute physical and paper transactions including spot cargoes, term contracts, CFDs, EFPs and Brent spreads on ICE and OTC markets.
- Develop and maintain long term commercial relationships with NOCs, IOCs, refiners and trading counterparties across the Mediterranean and West Africa.
- Analyse market fundamentals: regional supply/demand balances, quality differentials, refinery runs, shipping logistics and port access constraints.

Candidate Profile

- In depth knowledge of crude grades produced in the Mediterranean (Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Azerbaijan) and West Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Congo, Cameroon, Gabon).
- Strong command of crude pricing mechanisms: Dated Brent, CFDs, EFPs, inter grade spreads and quality/freight differentials.
- Established network of relationships with NOCs, IOCs, refiners and brokers across the region.
- Sound understanding of tanker chartering (Aframax/Suezmax) and regional port logistics.
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in a fast paced, high pressure trading environment.

Education
- Master's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, International Business or Engineering from a leading university or Grande École.
- CFA, FRM or commodity trading certifications are a plus.
