Senior Cloud DBA – PostgreSQL & Databricks Lakehouse

Role Summary

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• The role requires seven to ten years of experience as a Database Administrator or Cloud Database Engineer.
• Strong experience administering enterprise PostgreSQL and supporting cloud-native database modernization.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise data platforms.

Technical Skills

• PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, partitioning, replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Azure Database for PostgreSQL, AWS RDS PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL, and cloud database migration.
• Databricks Lakehouse Architecture, Delta Lake, Medallion Framework, and Databricks Workflows.
• Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration frameworks.
• Apache Kafka, event streaming, streaming data pipelines, and event-driven architectures.
• CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, scripting, automation, and version control.
• SQL, Python, Bash or Shell scripting, and preferred PowerShell experience.
• Database monitoring, logging, alerting, security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise PostgreSQL databases across cloud platforms.
• Lead database modernization and migration from on-premises systems to cloud-native PostgreSQL.
• Design and manage Databricks Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture.
• Build ETL/ELT workflows and support real-time data processing solutions.
• Implement high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.
• Develop database automation scripts and automate deployments with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Solution Architects, DevOps, and Application teams.
• Troubleshoot production issues, resolve incidents, and conduct root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior DBAs and establish administration standards and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise cloud migration and modernization projects.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Knowledge of data governance and metadata management.
• Experience supporting AI/ML-ready data platforms and advanced analytics environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized database deployments.
• Azure, PostgreSQL, Databricks, or cloud platform certifications.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
