About the Role

The Structural Engineer will manage, inspect, evaluate, and coordinate structural engineering activities associated with facilities.

The role covers structural inspections, corrective maintenance, repair works, technical assessments, contractor coordination, quality control, and engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect steel bridge elements, box girders, pontoons, machinery pits, concrete structures, platforms, ladders, supports, and related components.
  • Identify defects including deterioration, corrosion, cracking, deformation, water leakage, coating failures, and concrete spalling.
  • Prepare inspection reports, technical assessments, condition reports, and repair recommendations.
  • Develop and review repair methodologies for structural steel, reinforced concrete, bridge components, and marine structures.
  • Review drawings, submittals, method statements, inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and technical calculations.
  • Coordinate maintenance work orders from initiation through execution, inspection, approval, and closure.
  • Supervise steel replacement, welding, strengthening, crack repair, concrete repair, grouting, and protective coating works.
  • Review welding documentation, coordinate non-destructive testing, and verify fabrication, erection, bolting, welding, and surface preparation.
  • Prepare proposals, repair sketches, scopes of work, bills of quantities, cost estimates, progress reports, and technical presentations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers, clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements, safety procedures, and project standards.
  • Maintain records and support emergency inspections, programme monitoring, resource planning, risk identification, and recovery planning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall structural engineering experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of practical experience in bridge, marine, infrastructure, or heavy structural-steel projects.
  • Professional engineering certification or chartered status is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of UAE experience is preferred.
  • RTA projects, bridge maintenance, or movable bridge systems experience is advantageous.
  • Strong practical site-execution, structural assessment, technical reporting, communication, coordination, and work-order management skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and standard Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Familiarity with structural-analysis software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Maximo or similar computerized maintenance-management systems is advantageous.
