Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for nursing team within ward/unit and report issues to senior charge nurse/unit manager
- Facilitate effective patient flow utilizing bed capacity and staffing resources appropriately
- Monitor and review staff skill mix in accordance with patient acuity to align staffing and workload
- Ensure quality standards of nursing documentation are maintained according to organisational policy
- Perform hospital rounds to assess, identify problems, determine solutions and guide teams
- Liaise effectively with other health care providers both internal and external
- Support culture of performance improvement and monitor quality of nursing care
- Participate in accreditation activities and audit compliance with documentation standards
- Monitor and support organisational Key Performance Indicators and Clinical Indicators
- Coordinate, monitor, and report incidents occurring after hours and facilitate corrective action
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years clinical experience in appropriate healthcare settings post qualification
- Minimum 2 years in Senior Charge Nurse position OR 3 years in Charge Nurse position

Job Description
- Responsible for leading all nurses in an operational context within a unit/ward.
- Ensure bed allocation and staff skill mix is appropriate for patient condition.
- Take a lead role in coordinating hospital services during their shift.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for nursing team within ward/unit and report issues to senior charge nurse/unit manager.
- Collaborate with non nursing departments to resolve issues impacting patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees, task forces; may chair or lead groups.
- Facilitate effective patient flow using bed capacity and staffing resources.
- Monitor staff skill mix and align staffing with workload based on patient acuity.
- Build relationships to support interdisciplinary planning for improved patient outcomes.
- Promote continuity of care that is patient centered and outcome oriented.
- Ensure quality standards of nursing documentation are maintained.
- Perform hospital rounds to assess, identify problems, and guide teams.
- Liaise effectively with internal and external healthcare providers.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient, family, and organization information.
- Facilitate communication between patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications
- NLT 6 years clinical experience in appropriate healthcare settings post qualification.
- NLT 2 years in Senior Charge Nurse position OR NLT 3 years in Charge Nurse position.
