Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise delivery of high quality evidence based care; diagnose and treat patients
- Oversee clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for their care
- Lead ward rounds; reassess inpatients and outpatients regularly
- Accurately document all relevant clinical information
- Liaise with other medical specialties and support services
- Participate in multi disciplinary meetings
- Ensure preparation of patients for procedures including informed consent
- Accept clinically appropriate referrals from various sources
- Participate in out of hours (on call) coverage on a rotational basis
- Communicate clinical information to patients and families
- Lead quality improvement within the Department
- Foster a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement; promote research and publication
Requirements
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification
- Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in internationally accredited institute
- For UAE Nationals: Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience

Job Description
- The Consultant Physician is responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence based care.
- Expected to be an example of clinical excellence and provide leadership and training for junior medical staff.
Responsibilities
- Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Helps lead and implement performance management system, including peer review and productivity review.
- Assists with scheduling and ensures adequate medical coverage within the Division.
- Attends Divisional meetings and assists in recruitment of new medical staff.
- Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards.
- Oversees clinical activities of junior medical staff.
- Complies with hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
- Leads ward round; reassesses inpatients and outpatients regularly.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information.
- Regularly reviews results of investigations and modifies treatment as required.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services.
- Actively participates in multi disciplinary meetings.
Quality & Safety
- Helps lead quality improvement within the Department.
- Supports a culture of regular audit and encourages use of audit results.
- Supports reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.
Education
- Fosters a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement.
- Promotes and assists in instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff.
- Facilitates provision of essential training relevant to clinical staff.
- Shows commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME).
- Promotes and participates in clinical research and publication.
- Keeps abreast of current literature and latest trends.
Qualifications
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification.
- Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in internationally accredited institute.
- For UAE Nationals: Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience (each year of clinical fellowship counted as two years of clinical experience, only applicable to clinical subspecialty fellowship in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA or HAAD accred
