About the Role
Scotiabank's Digital Banking Engineering Auth team is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to bridge business, control functions, technology partners, and engineering teams. You will drive requirement gathering, solutioning, and backlog management for microservices.

Responsibilities
- Act as bridge between business, control functions, technology partners, and engineering teams
- Work with Digital Banking stakeholders on requirement gathering, estimation, and backlog grooming
- Drive high level E2E solutioning and estimations with business and software architects
- Translate complex problems into viable technical options and recommendations
- Manage prioritization, solutioning, and estimation of change requests
- Support project delivery by providing clarifications on scope and requirements
- Oversee delivery life cycle to ensure business and functional goals are met
- Manage engineering backlogs of selected Microservices
- Conduct analysis on non project driven requests and turn them into executable backlog items
- Prioritize backlogs from various sources with support of Technical Product Managers
- Collaborate with Senior Development Managers to align project timelines and forecast capacity
- Serve as SME of assigned MicroServices and maintain documentation
Requirements
- University degree in technology, computer science, engineering or equivalent experience
- 7 or more years in business analyst within Engineering/Technology
- Experience working with middle tier services for customer facing front end applications in a large scale ecosystem
- Excellent problem solving skills with ability to work with ambiguity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player who enjoys collaborating and coaching others
- Agile mindset and ability to adapt to dynamic environment
- Result oriented, proactive, and reliable
- Previous working experience in Agile/Scrum software delivery model
- Nice to have: Experience with retail or small business digital banking
- Nice to have: Experience with project and/or team capacity planning

Overview
- Contributes to the overall success of the Digital Banking Engineering Auth team in Canada.
- Ensures specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
- All activities conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Act as the bridge between multiple parties including business, control functions, technology partners and engineering teams.
- Work with Digital Banking stakeholders and contribute to requirement gathering, estimation, and backlog grooming activities.
- Drive high level E2E solutioning and estimations by working closely with business and software architects, client application teams.
- Translate complex problems and challenges into viable technical options and recommendations.
- Manage prioritization, solutioning, and estimation of change requests.
- Support project delivery by providing clarifications on scope and requirements as needed.
- Oversee the delivery life cycle to ensure business and functional goals are met.
- Accountable for managing the engineering backlogs of selected Microservices.
- Conduct analysis on non project driven requests and turn them into executable backlog items.
- Prioritize backlogs items from various sources with support of Technical Product Managers.
- Collaborate with Senior Development Managers to align project timelines and forecast team capacity.
- Serve as the SME of assigned MicroServices, oversee all past and future changes and make suggestions for improvements.
Qualifications
- University degree in technology, computer science, engineering OR equivalent experience.
- 7 or more years in business analyst within Engineering/Technology.
- Experience working with middle tier services for customer facing front end application in a large scale ecosystem.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player who enjoys collaborating with, learning from, and coaching others.
- Agile mindset and ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to be result oriented, proactive, and reliable.
