Senior Assistant Accountant

Responsibilities

• Monitor and validate regular and period-closing accounting processes for accurate recording and reporting.
• Ensure financial transactions comply with budgetary thresholds.
• Process and monitor accounts payment checks in line with company policy.
• Validate sales transactions and reconcile received funds against recorded sales.
• Perform account reconciliations to ensure financial data accuracy and reliability.
• Respond to and investigate stakeholder requests within agreed service levels.
• Analyze costs against the approved budget and produce business-supporting reports.
• Recommend process improvements, automation, and cost savings.
• Revise work methods and standards to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least four years of finance experience, preferably across more than one area.
• Sound bookkeeping knowledge.
• Knowledge of advanced Excel functions and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with ERP finance modules.
• Knowledge of process improvement, analysis, and preparation of summaries or recommendations.

• Understanding of VAT rules and their application to transactions.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
